    zuo got his ph.d. degree in dept of surface science and corrosion engineering, university of science and technology beijing. since 1984 he has been working in beijing university of chemical technology. during 1989 to 1991, he worked in dept. of materials science and engineering, massachusetts institute of technology as a visiting scientist. he got an associate professor’s position in 1991 and has been a professor since 1995.

for recent years, prof. zuo’s main research fields include localized corrosion of metals, anodic films, chemical conversion films and coatings for aluminum and magnesium alloys, brush plating for stainless steels, and electrochemical testing methods for coatings. zuo has authored or co-authored about 400 journal papers and 7 books, among which more than 150 papers were published on international journals in english. he got several awards for scientific and technological advancement in china, 1 at the national level and 10 at the ministerial-level. he taught 12 courses for students and graduate students, including “x-rays diffraction method”, “testing methods for materials science”, “physical metallurgy”, “corrosion and protection of metals and alloys”, “kinetics of elecrtode process”, etc. he was the vice president of chinese society for corrosion and protection from 1997 to 2010, and has been a member of the international corrosion council since 2005. now he is the editorial board member of several journals including “surf. coat. technol.”, “inter. j. of corros.”, “j. of chinese soc. for corros. and prot.”, “ corros. sci. prot. technol.”, “mater. prot.”, “surface technology”, etc.
